A fine example of the Jurassic fossil species found in black oolitic layer other wise known as the Garantiana and Megateuthis layer with an age of 168million.
These intricate fossils take a lot of time to prepare as are known for their notoriously stunning detail, in most cases these fossils are completely crystalised with calcite leaving them very well preserved. Each fossil is different as they can be encrusted with other life forms that grow on the shell surfaces. These micro organisms can vary with sponges to tubes worms, other shell clusters that once inhabited the surface of these molluscs.
